BIOGRAPHY:

The Starlight Sisters grew up surrounded by music. Their older brothers both have played in various punk rock, anti-folk, rockabilly, indie rock, and screamo bands, and their parents both played in hardcore punk rock bands prior to having their children. Even their cousins all play music. Rose Sunshine performs as a solo artist, Caster Moonshine is a drummer and guitarist, and Daisy Moonshine and Hemlock Sunshine both play in the hardcore / punk / rockabilly band, Daisy Moonshine and The City boys.

Violet and Lilly Starlight have been playing guitar and keyboard since they were 13 and 15 years old. After having their friends and family pressure them to start performing live shows for several years, the sisters decided to start a band in 2019.

The Starlight Sisters play acoustic indie rock and punk, with a slight emo edge to it. The two girls were inspired by artists such as Elliot Smith, The Get Up Kids, Jets To Brazil, The Format, and Violent Femmes. In late 2019, the duo had their first live performance at a small coffee shop in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The girls recieved praise from their friends and family after the performance, and played the same coffee shop a few weeks later.

Both Lilly and Violet enjoyed themselves considerably, and played the same coffee shop three more time in 2020, before the girls were forced to stop their live shows due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Over the next several weeks, Lilly and Violet were confined at home due to the Stay-At-Home Order that had been put into place. Luckily, both girls lived together and were able to write new material for when the order was finally lifted.

The Starlight Sister’s cousin, Daisy Moonshine, approached the girls in May, with an idea of recording and releasing a split seven inch record. The sisters both loved the idea, and Daisy Moonshine met with Bad Stain Records president, Chase Stain, to discuss the idea while she was in Phoenix recording material for her bands upcoming releases. After watching a short video of The Starlight Sisters playing a song live, Stain agreed to sign the band, and added that if he was happy with the way the recordings came out on the split record, and enjoyed the girls style and sound, that the label would consider releasing additional albums of the band.

In July of 2020, Violet and Lilly Starlight entered the studio and recorded material for the split record release. The girls were very happy with the end result, and released the split record with Daisy Moonshine and The City Boys in late 2020.

The Starlight Sisters wasted little time after their first release and recorded a follow up seven inch record, titled "Isolated", just a few months later in 2021. "Isolated" features music that the band wrote during the COVID pandemic while in lockdown.

Violet and Lilly spent the last part of 2021 and the early months of 2022 writing music for their first full length album, and started the recording process in the summer of 2022. The Starlight Sisters hope to release their first full length album on Bad Stain in late 2022 or early 2023.
