BIOGRAPHY:

Rose Sunshine has been singing and playing piano since she was a little girl, and started to learn guitar in her late teens. She got her start singing backup vocals and duets with her younger half sister, Daisy, in her band, Daisy Moonshine and her Redneck Brothers.

Rose sang with Daisy Moonshine on three tracks from her debut release on Bad Stain Records, Bellis Perennis, and after the release of the record, Rose made the decision to start her own career in music as a solo artist. Rose approached Bad Stain Records with her plans, and convinced the label to release a seven inch record of her solo material, and promptly entered the Blood Moon Recordings to record four original tracks that she had written.

Rose enlisted the help of friends and family for the release, including having Bad Stain Records founder and president, Chase Stain produce the record. Stain also played bass guitar on the records title track, and Sunshine’s older brother, Hemlock Sunshine played bass on the other three tracks. Sunshine’s younger sister, Daisy Moonshine, performed additional guest vocals on the record, as well as her cousin Violet Starlight. Sunshine’s cousin, Caster Moonshine, played drums on three of the tracks, and her friend, Steven Starch, played drums on the fourth track. Sunshine also had help from her friends Johnny Laundromat and Angel Right, who each played guitar on tracks for the record.

The recording process was full of creativity, due to so many different musicians taking part in the project. The end result was far better than Sunshine had hoped, and each of the songs had vastly different styles, and they all had a very unique style. Bad Stain Records released the limited edition seven inch record in July of 2018, and to the record labels surprise, the sales were considerably high for a new, unknown artist.

Bad Stain only pressed 1,200 copies of the record, with the first 300 copies on swirled purple and black vinyl. The colored vinyl was sold within the first five weeks of the release, and the record sold 600 copies by the end of 2018. Rose Sunshine started writing new material for her next release, and in 2020, Sunshine returned to the studio to record material for a split seven inch record with her cousin Daisy’s new project, Daisy Moonshine and The City Boys. The split seven inch vinyl record was released in the late summer of 2020.

Just a few months after the release of the split seven inch record with Daisy Moonshine and The City Boys, Rose Sunshine announced that she was pregnant with her first child. Sunshine informed her fans that she was going on an indefinite hiatus, and planned to focus her time on being a mother for the time being. Sunshine has stated that she may possibly return to the music industry at some point in the future, although she doubts that it would be anytime in the near future.
