We all sat in our chairs as the woman dressed in black lit a single white candle in the
center of the table. As the flame flickered I saw a single stream of smoke gently rise and swirl
to the ceiling. The glow illuminated the pendent she wore around her neck that lay between
her smooth and milk colored breasts. I stared at the detail of the piece and focused on the
trim work. The pendant was silver, with a slight tarnish, unless it was the shadows playing a
trick on my eyes. Rectangle in shape with writing that I couldn't decipher. The writing didn't
look normal, almost like symbols perhaps. I glanced away at her face and noticed her gazing
at me. I quickly turned my attention to mt wife, fearing the woman assumed I was focused on
her lovely breasts rather than her jewelry.
"How long is this going to take," I asked Julie.
"Don't be such an asshole," she replied. "This means just as much to me as is does to
you. If you didn't want to take things this far you shouldn't have invited her into our house".
"Well I didn't expect to come home and find out you hired some psychic to contact them." I
said as a rolled my eyes. "I expected to come home and watch the D-Backs kick the Yankees
asses and then have a nice dinner."
"Play nice and maybe you'll get dessert Tony," she said as she smiled and caressed my
leg.
"I don't know if I'll even be in the mood after this," I replied. "To be honest this whole thing
makes me very uneasy."
The lady set down some sage she had been burning and inhaled deeply, then sighed.
She took a seat next to Julie and mark and looked directly at me. Her eyes panned down to a
book that lay to her left. She picked it up and started flipping through the pages, licking her
thumb and index finger ever third or fourth page.
"Emily," she whispered in a soft voice.
"Excuse me," Lisa whispered back.
"That's my name," she responded.
"Why are we whispering?" I whispered in response.
"I'm not really sure," she quietly replied. "It just adds to the mood." She smiled and let out
a little chuckle, followed by a snort.
"Who are we attempting to contact?" She asked Julie, still focused on the book that now
resided in her hands.
"Three Chord Mafia," she answered. "If it's even possible."
"I need everyone to join hands and clear their mind of all thoughts". Emily informed us.
"We will all need to focus on Three Chord Mafia. Sometimes certain entities can be a little
frightening, although very seldom dangerous. I need to place all my energy in keeping the
entity at bay. One of you will act as a direct connect for the spirit. Have you decided who that
will be?"
"Yo," Tony shouted.
"Okay," she whispered looking at him with a glare in her eyes that sent a chill down my
body. "I need to go over a few minor things with you. When the spirit starts to take control of
you, it may feel a little strange. You may get a tingle sensation and you may feel a change in
your heart rate. It's totally normal. Let the spirit overcome you and don't resist. If you resist the
entity may become hostile and force itself into you, and that can be very uncomfortable for you."
"Wait a minute," Tony said in response to Emily's instructions. "I had no clue it was going
to be anything like that. Fuck that!" Tony yelled as he pulled his hand away from hers and a
bead of sweat trickled down his forehead."
"I'll do it," I said to the entire room. What was I thinking? For some odd reason the whole
situation had peaked my interest and if Three Chord Mafia was going to use anyone of us to
communicate through, I wanted it to be me. I wanted this. I needed this. If not for me, for my
wife, and all of my friends that desperately needed to understand more about the situation.
"Are you sure?" Julie asked.
"Yes." I replied. "We need this. And I have no fears about them using me as a portal," I lied
in a cool and calm voice.
"I love you," Julie blurted to me as her eyes started to glaze.
"I love you too," I replied as my voice cracked and I felt my stomach quiver.
"Alright everyone," Emily said to all of us. "Let's begin."
